friday i'm in love

Hello Beautiful,

I hope that every week I can fall a little bit more in love with the world.

Seriously.

This mysterious dance we do on the earth, in human skin, it's like a love affair.

Deluded, yet exquisitely, perfectly real. Gorgeous, all encompassing, so beautiful. Perfect, ecstatic, unbelievably unfair and painful.

Sacred, mundane.
Prepare for transfiguration, miracles, euphoria, ecstasy, boredom, and dirty dishes. Then more ecstasy. Don't forget the mystery.

Love. I don't reserve it only for my most intimate beloveds: child, partner, buddha, pug, self, island. I bestow it widely, on many things and people and experiences - I love so much. Don't you?

SO I thought I could devote Fridays to being in love. And talking about it. This feature is all about whatever I fell in love with this week, on the interwebs or otherwise.  And whatever I think you might fall in love with too. Little loves and big loves. So here we go:

1. Being a super-visual person who loves social media, I was thrilled to discover Pinterest. It's a social media service that allows users to save images from all over the web on categorized "pinboards." You can follow and comment on other's pinboards too. You can see my Pinterest here, and I'd love it if you followed me! Here is a snippet of my pinboard Soft Beauty:

2. Lilacs. They are blooming now, quite late. I have a bunch of them in a vase on my desk and I can smell their impossible fragrance now. I grew up in an old farmhouse back East, and spring brought apple blossoms, peonies, and lilacs. The fragrances are incredibly nostalgic.

3. This Facebook page devoted to spiritual ecstasy and the poetry of Rumi. Love seeing this in my stream every day. More beauty, more beauty.

4. The seasonal return of local food. Yay! I have arugula growing in my garden. My friend Katarina brought over a huge bag of  Oyster mushrooms that she cultivated herself on a fallen tree in her back yard. The Saturday Market is up and running, and I just heard that the Produce Shack will be open on Saturday! Loving another long summer of eating gorgeous island slow food, like these beautiful eggs from next door...

What are you in love with today?
Have a beautiful weekend.... take time, and enjoy the beauty of the world...
