"Love is the capacity to take care, to protect, to nourish. If you are not capable of generating that kind of energy toward yourself - if you are not capable of taking care of yourself, of nourishing yourself, of protecting yourself - it is very difficult to take care of another person. In the Buddhist teaching, it's clear that to love oneself is the foundation of the love of other people. Love is a practice. Love is truly a practice."
-Thich Nhat Hanh
"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart. And try to love the questions themselves. "
-Rainer Maria Rilke

ooohhhh, heartwrenching story...what an owwy to have to carry around. I'd lay that one down and walk away from it....or base your next novel on it!
I hadn't visited that memory for decades, and it just bubbled up when I was writing this post.
I've got lots of friends now :)
I was thinking, though, of decorating a box, then filling it up to the brim with little "self-valentines," notes about things I love about myself!
This would be a fun exercise for all of us !
Thanks for your sweet support!
