sharing inspiration

I've had my hands in clay for months, but I have been craving fresh watercolour paper, pens & ink, glue, paint. Yum. I wanted to share some work from two very different illustrators who have been inspiring me lately. The two long illustrations below (you have to click on them to see the full, long, amazing panoramas!) are by Henry Darger, whose extraordinary life and works you can read about here. The two charmers above are by Shilo Shiv Suleman, whose blog I love. Enjoy!

I am impressed and moved by Darger's work. I had not known of him. Thank you for this introduction. I respond to how he combines childish whimsical images with the very core of darkness. These works are profound, ... as is childhood. Few artists capture that.
