My neighbor Larry showed up at my door the other day with this enamel tub full of freshly picked berries. Isn't this just the picture of old-fashioned wholesome goodness? This is summer. This is also one of the many reasons I love my island home.
So I froze most of these, since I didn't have time to make jam this week. But I also served a few bowls fresh with cream; it was a great chance to try out one of my fresh-out-of-the-kiln Blossom Bowls with Mango glaze (below). I think it looks beautiful!I also made a batch of my favorite Berry Crisp, the recipe is adapted from the Moosewood Restaurant Book of Desserts' Apple Raspberry Crisp - I'll post the recipe later today.

Those berries look tremendous! You should make pie!
Hi Kate! Thanks for stopping by!
My daughter is the baker in the family and though this batch didn't turn into a pie, she always makes a couple of blackberry pies in late August. Maybe I'll post one. (;
Mmmm, please do. My aunt Kathy has berry bushes in her yard and every year she makes the most amazing wild berry pies in the world. I wasn't able to snag some this year, unfortunately, but I think about them all year round. Your post reminded me of them.
